Cazorla has one of the most spectacular mountain ranges in our country, but it is also a city of special charm. Easy to walk and with medieval monuments, its castle will not leave you indifferent. The castle of Yedra was a defensive enclave of the Cazorla village and Cerezuelo river. It was built by the Muslims, but was rebuilt in Gothic style, as it stands today.
The Santa María’s church was destroyed twice and has never been completely finished. First by a great flood and years later by a fire. It is said that there is a miraculous event in the church, and that is that Christ of Consolation picture was completely intact after the flood and in the fire was unpolluted. In the tower you can have one of the best views of the place.
As the town of Cazorla grew, the locals had to build a vault over the Cerezuelo River. A work of engineering, which today can be visited and traveled by a metal bridge suspended over the river.
One of the curiosities of the town is the house of bicycles. In the black street you can see a house full of bicycles of different colours and sizes.
Near the village, you can go to visit Iruela’s castle and the Virgen de la Cabeza’s Hermitage.
If it coincides that you travel in July, Cazorla dresses in costume to welcome blues musicians from around the world. There are open-air concerts throughout the town and it is one of the best in the world.
